Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible for the offer?

The offer is available to current full-time and part-time students enrolled at eligible U.S. degree-granting institutions. Claim by October 31.

How do you verify that I’m a student?

We use SheerID’s secure verification system to confirm your enrollment. Depending on your school, SheerID may verify your status through trusted enrollment records, ask you to log in through your school’s single sign-on (SSO), or request supporting documentation.

What’s included in the offer?

Four free months of ChatGPT Plus, including access to ChatGPT Work and other premium features.

Does my ChatGPT account need to use my school email?

No. Your ChatGPT account can use a different email address. You’ll need a school-issued email to verify your student status with SheerID while signed in to the ChatGPT account where you want the offer applied.

Can I claim the offer if I already have Plus?

Yes. If you otherwise meet the eligibility requirements and your subscription is billed directly by ChatGPT, you can claim this offer as an existing Plus subscriber. Complete verification while signed in to the account where you want the offer applied. Subscriptions billed through the App Store or Google Play aren’t supported. Cancel through the store where you subscribed; you’ll keep Plus until your current billing period ends. Then return to check whether the offer is still available.

Do I need to enter a payment method?

If you’re starting a new Plus subscription, you’ll need to add a payment method to activate the offer. You won’t be charged during the four free months. Eligible existing Plus subscribers billed directly by ChatGPT can apply the offer to their current subscription. After the promotion period, your subscription will renew at $20/month unless you cancel.

What happens if I cancel before my 4 free months are over?

If you cancel before the end of the 4-month offer, your free Plus access will continue through the end of your current billing period. After that, you won’t receive the remaining free months.

What should I do if I’m having trouble verifying?

Visit the SheerID support form for help with verification, school listings, or document review.
